Icarus: Dangerous Horizons - North Volcanic

In addition to the overall heightmap/landscape for Dangerous Horizons, I was also responsible for the world-building of the the northern volcanic and geothermal biomes.
In the northern volcanic, we wanted a landscape shattered by an eruption, with a central peak and crater that bordered the arctic and crevasses and canyons radiating outward from it.
The volcanic regions on Icarus are among the most difficult in the game, with high temperatures, little to no water and sparse plant life. The lava doesn't help either.
Thanks to the rest of the Icarus art team, especially Tristan McLean for sharing the world-building trenches with me.
