In addition to the overall heightmap/landscape for Dangerous Horizons, I was also responsible for the world-building of the the northern volcanic and geothermal biomes.
The geothermal biome was completely new for this map, and so the work involved creating new assets, repurposing existing ones and developing the overall look and feel in close collaboration with Concept. We only had a single landscape texture to spare for this biome, and so I leaned heavily on virtual texture decals to bring it to life. Overall I was really pleased with how it came out.
